In-Person Appointments – New COVID-19 Safety Policies
If you are not feeling well, we ask that you please call our office and reschedule your appointment, (770) 703-4577.
If you tested positive for COVID-19 please do not come for services for 14 days after your fever has subsided.
Our hearts are with those who have been affected personally by the outbreak of COVID-19 as well as the many communities around the world that are facing extreme measures in the attempt to slow its spread.
At Small Steps Music, our continuing priority is the safety of our patients, staff, and community. As of June 1, 2020, we are reopening for in-person music services. We would like to keep you informed of the measures we are taking to protect our patients, staff, and community from the COVID-19 virus.
Should I keep my child home or bring for services:
Small Steps Music’s policy (based on CDC recommendations) requires a child stay home if they:
· Have a fever of 100.4 or higher
· Have been vomiting or has diarrhea (within 24 hrs)
· Sore throat if you suspect a step infection, even if there is not fever.
· Drainage from an ear or eye (may indicate infection)
· Severe cough that may be uncontrollable.
· Frequent sneezing and coughing. This spreads sickness to others.
24 Hour Rule:
· Fever: Keep your child home until his or her FEVER has gone WITHOUT medicine for 24 hours. Colds can be contagious for at least 48 hours. Returning to school too soon may slow recovery and make others sick.
· Vomiting or Diarrhea: Keep your child home for 24 hours after last time he or she vomited or had diarrhea.
· Antibiotics: Keep your child home until 24 hours after the First dose of antibiotic for anything like ear infection, strep, or pneumonia.
WHAT TO EXPECT DURING YOUR VISIT
Upon arrival, clients are asked to wait in the parking lot of the Small Steps Music, L.L.C. clinic and call (770) 703-4577. The client will then be picked-up by a staff member. A member of our staff will provide hand sanitizer, complete a temporal (no contact) temperature scan, and ask you the following three screening questions upon arrival. If you answer yes to any of these questions we will need to reschedule your appointment. All persons entering the clinic are required to wash their hands following CDC guidelines on handwashing to stop the spread of germs. Clients will then be escorted to their treatment/lesson room.
1. Are you experiencing symptoms of Coronavirus (COVID-19)?
(We will ask you to review the list in the graphic below and simply answer yes or no.)
2. Have you traveled outside of Georgia within the past two weeks?
3. Have you been in recent contact with someone diagnosed with Coronavirus (COVID-19)?
ADDITIONAL SAFETY PROTOCOL
In addition to the above protocol, we will continue our cleaning and sanitizing procedures as well as institute these additional measures:
State and Federal Mandates
o Mandates of the Georgia Governor’s office will be followed, as well as CDC guidelines.
o We are asking each client the CDC recommended questions to determine if they are exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19. Patients exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 are instructed not to enter the building.
Facility Cleaning and Sanitizing
o Our facility has been cleaned and sanitized prior to reopening
o Team members will clean and sanitize instruments and equipment before and after session
o Treatment rooms and general areas are thoroughly disinfected after each patient visit as per OSHA and CDC guidelines.
Items Removed from Rotation Use:
o Many “high touch” items used throughout the facility are no longer available for use at this time. This includes, but is not limited to, waiting room items, instruments used with clients, and other equipment and manipulatives used during sessions that are difficult to sanitize.
Clinic Visitors
o Clients, family members, and visitors are asked to wait in their cars upon arrival to scheduled appointments. Upon your arrival, you will call Small Steps Staff at (770) 703-4577. For those family members attending with patients, we appreciate you waiting in your car throughout sessions and we will escort everyone in and out of the office to reduce the frequency of contact with high touch areas which we can clean at high frequency.
o New clients and those requiring additional support will have additional access as needed.
o Bathrooms are open for your use.
Employee Protocols:
o ALL employees and students are monitored daily for symptoms of the virus and will have routine COVID-19 screenings/temperature readings.
o ALL employees and students are educated on proper handwashing and infection control guidelines.
o ALL employees and students will be required to wear masks.
Virtual Service Options
o In addition to in-person music therapy, we are also offering teleservice options to continue music services. Please discuss what options are best for you with our staff.
