Small Steps Music, LLC

Natalie Generally founded Small Steps Music, L.L.C. in 2010. She wanted to create a music therapy and music education company that would provide high quality, comprehensive music services for individuals and families.  


Today, Small Steps provides services in seven counties. The Small Steps staff continues to support, nurture, and develop each individual’s abilities and areas of need through the use of innovative teaching strategies and enjoyable music interventions in a therapeutic environment.

Natalie Generally Kirk, DHS, MMEd, LPMT,MT-BC
NICU MUSIC THERAPIST                                    

Owner, Executive Director

Natalie Generally Kirk, DHS, MMEd, LPMT, MT-BC is a licensed, board certified  music therapist and a certified music teacher in the state of Georgia  with over 20 years experience working in the school setting and private practice. She is the owner of Small Steps Music LLC and provides music therapy services in Fulton County Public Schools. Natalie earned a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Piano Performance from Emory University, a Master's in Music Education and Music Therapy Equivalency from The University of Georgia, and her Doctorate of Human Services in Organizational Leadership and Management from Capella University.  Natalie has worked with organizations like the Sound Health Network, The NeuroArts Blueprint Initiative, Music Mentors Atlanta, The Black Music Therapy Network, and PopUP Music Therapy that advocate for arts education, arts research, music therapy, and community change. She has served in a variety of state, regional, and national roles within the field of music therapy, including President of the Music Therapy Association of Georgia (MTAG), Chair of the Continuing Education Committee for the South-Eastern Region of AMTA (SER-AMTA), President of SER-AMTA, and member of the Board of Directors for the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA).  Natalie believes positive changes start with compassionate hearts that are truthful, genuine, discerning, and dedicated.

Makayla Potts

Music Therapist and Lessons Instructor

Ms. Makayla is from Stockbridge, Georgia and received her Bachelor's degree in Music Therapy from the University of Georgia. She completed her internship at Metro Music Therapy in Peachtree Corners, GA. Ms. Makayla loves to explore ways that music can be used to create meaningful experiences for all people. In her free time, she enjoys painting, cooking, dancing, and meditating.
