Adapted music lessons are designed with individualized modifications for the student in mind. These non-traditional lessons are ideal for students with special needs or those with certain health conditions. Examples of modifications may include:
Traditional Music Lessons provide fundamental music skills presented through the use of a variety of lesson books and workbooks that explore notation, pitch, rhythm, dynamics, expression, technique & artistry, theory, and ear training. Small Steps Music does not endorse any one particular music curriculum. We will explore a variety of activities, music, artists, instruments, props, and instruction books.
- Simplified notation
- Color coded, numerical, or alphabet notation
- Visual aides
- Use of a chord buddy or E-Z chord for guitar
- Large print music
- Use of visual schedule and/or timers for better transitions
- Longer or shorter lesson times
- Specially designed grips for drum sticks or mallets
- A-B-C keyboard stickers for easy identification of notes/keys
